Question:

Where to buy safety pins?

I need some safety pins, and usually I would just have some lying around, but I can't find any anywhere!!

I know it's a bit odd, but off the top of my head, I just can't think of where I would buy some from? I'm sure they're quite common, but I don't think I've ever seen them anywhere?

Does anyone know where I can buy a packet from (in London btw).

Tks :)

  13. Not sure about London, but in the US, safety pins are quite easy to find. Most grocery stores carry them in small packages, you will find them stocked in the isle where they have a small area for sewing kits, and iron on patches.

Sewing stores definately have them. Anywhere you can purchase material. Craft stores too. And again, I'm not sure about London, but in the US, we have "superstores" where they sell just about anything you can think of under one roof. Like Meijer, Super Wal-mart, Super K-mart..

Lastly, if you are in an emergency situation and have a dry cleaner near by, just pop in and ask them if they could please let you have one or two.

I have actually done this, been on my way to some important event, had a clothing malfunction, short on time and I'm passing a row of shops with a dry cleaners. Made a quick turn, ran in and explained my situation. Not only did the lady give me pins, she helped me pin my dress, which was really kind of her, especially since sometimes its difficult to pin clothing when it is on your body. If its in a difficult area to reach, and you take it off, it doesn't quite lay right, so having that extra pair of hands was sooo helpful. BTW, most dry cleaners have a seamstress and they are invaluable when it comes to emergencies.

    Best of luck!
