The Smart Car (the U.S. version anyway) is gas powered and is only good for a combined 31mpg.

There are no electric smart cars in North America.  There are used gas ones and used diesel ones (my friend has a diesel one and I think this is stupid as diesel is so bad for the environment)  Just remember the smart car only holds 2 people and there is no back seat.

You'll need to wait about five years.  There are just a few new Smart Cars driving around, owned by select individuals.  Also, they are not pure electrics.  While you are dreaming about electric cars, go to Venture One.com or flytheroad.com
