  1. Just use the ATM.I was in Paphos three weeks ago.Watch out for a little ruse they have going in pubs where they don't bother bringing you back your change no matter how much it is! I can recommend Fat Mamma's for good food, service price and entertainment.35deg every day!

  2. Go to your local post office and see if you can get enough there for the first night, then you can probably withdraw Euros from the ATM locally, and it's taken from your bank account, but I would check with your bank first that you have the necessary card.

  3. Don't buy Euros at all - you will get much better rates by using European ATM machines than you would at currency exchanges.

  4. I think you say bye to your Euros in any shop or restaurant.

If you are in the UK, I have heard that you can get money exchanged at the  post office, and you don't have to pay an exchange fee.  I have no idea what the rate is, though.  They probably get their money somehow, by inflating the rate.

You can buy foreign monies at any bank, anywhere.  And my exprience has been that except for convenience places, it alway works out pretty much the same, within pennies or so.  Buy them in the UK, or in (is it Greece?) your destination, and it will work out about the same.  If you go to the airport or train station, or any change booth on the street that is NOT a bank, you will pay more.

  5. We actually live in Cyprus, but my husband was over in the U.K. a short while ago, and said that The Co-op supermarket was offering a good rate, along with Travelex, but, if you check on Travelex website, you get a bettrer deal if you order your money online, and then collect it from your nearest outlet.

Having said that, don't bring too much out with you, just bring a small amount, and then if you bring the rest in Sterling, you will get a better rate of exchange at any of the many kiosks in and around Paphos. We live in Xylofagou, near to Agia Napa.

Have a great holiday....very hot here at the moment, and we are experiencing drought conditions, so please help to conserve water while you are here!
