Question:

Where to donate really worn shoes?

I have a couple of pairs of old tennis shoes and a couple of pairs of old Rockports, none of these shoes have holes in them, but they are really, really worn (especially the Rockports). I'm in the process of cleaning and polishing them up and adding some new laces, but even then I would be embarrassed to give them to Goodwill. It just seems that there is too much possible use left in these shoes to randomly throw them out. Does anyone have any ideas? I live in the Kansas City area, so if anyone around KC has any ideas. Please let me know. I'll take assistance from anyone though. Thanks.

  1. Souls for Souls!!! so many people dont have shoes! souls for souls takes any shoes! They can be really worn out! They dont care!!

  2. A friend took a box of shoes to a dollar store in a kind of run down neighborhood, and left them outside with a sign that said, "Size 9 Free to a Good Home." They were gone pretty quickly.

  3. Here's something I have done a couple of times and the shoes walked away on new feet within a short time;

    Go to an area where there are homeless people. Leave the shoes on the sidewalk or on something where they can be seen. A homeless person who needs them will take them. They are always looking for things to wear.

    Did you know that homeless people go through a lot of clothes too. They can't afford to wash the clothes they have, so they wear them until they are too dirty and smelly and throw them away when they find something clean.

  4. Take them to the tip and recycle them. If you give them to a charity don't be embarrassed, the fact you're cleaning them up is respectful enough
