You can search for women and children's shelters in your area.  They are always willing to take in things to help out the children.  Also check with the homeless shelters, they have a lot of children go through there that could use some new little comfort item.  Maybe even work out that you could go and read a  night time story to them and pass out the stuffed animals to them and see the direct impact right then.
