Will be travelling alone in Paris for 3 days. Where can I book in advance or walk in to have a nice dinner alone? Like cafes and bistros.

I'll be staying 5 minutes walk from Eiffel Tower. Thanks.

  1. I totally agree with Sue, you can eat anywhere alone in Paris with no trouble. If you feel self conscious about it, take a magazine or a book with you, you'll see a lot of people dining alone/having coffee in the cafe's and bistro's while encrossed in reading a book.

    Enjoy your travels, I'm envious!

  2. I stayed alone all over Europe.  I just went into places like bistros or cafés or brasseries, I think cafés are the least expensive class, with brasseries being more classy and bistros in the middle (I think), but any of those you should be comfortable walking into just to have a meal.  You can also buy food on the street, or buy a baguette, a small sausage, a wedge of cheese, and a bottle of whatever, and make yourself a nice little picnic to eat in one of the many parks/gardens.  Have a blast!  being alone doesn´t mean you should be lonely!

There´s also street vendors, most notably Crepe carts, and you take and walk away with your food.  Just munch along.

  3. i suggest you visit the famous café de la paix-a very classy restaurant that has been next to the opera house for ever.it is expensive though.the "au pied de cochon" is a must too.it is tricky to get there.if you take a cab there from the opera,it will only be about 5 or 7 Eur-maybe a Lotte latish at 8:30m when there is not so much traffic.there you can have onion soup-and their famous pork leg ,again it is on the expensive side but it is a classic.it is opened 24 hours-in case you can not sleep due to jet lag...

there are so many little bistros you can eat at alone! just remember ,the portions are ot big, and do not include a salad ,soup, rice or baked potatoes as in the USA.unless you see in the small blackboard outside of the place-sometimes they place it on the side walk, a full menu,a fixed menu-i forget the name of it now in french...then you get like a salad a main course and a dessert.

try the pan au chocolat-bread with chocolate inside they sell at bakeries!!!i´m so jealous you are going there!have fun!!
