i want to take a friends to a really upbeat restaurant/bar. what’s a good place to eat on 3rd street, CA

It depends on how pricey you're looking for.  I really like TART at the Farmer's Daughter hotel.  It's actually on Fairfax, right on Third and across from the farmer's market.   Good drinks and upscale versions of comfort food.

Sorry, you need to be more clear in your question -- 3rd street in L.A. / Hollywood, or 3rd St. Promenade in Santa Monica??
