  15. That would depend on what kind of computer you're looking for. You have to balance cost and quality.

If you're merely looking to do word processing and access emails, and lowest cost is all that matters to you, you may want to check out Craigslist. Look for ads that are in your area, and go and personally inspect the computer before purchasing it.

If you're looking to get good deals on parts to build your own computer (as opposed to buying one out of the box) you should look for an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) store to purchase your components. These stores generally provide less in terms of service and decor, in exchange for providing the lowest price to the consumer. For example, around my area www.oemexpress.com provides very good prices.

If you're looking to buy straight out of the box, I would actually recommend going to a big box store (www.BestBuy.com, etc...) and looking for a slightly older model. The models that are on their way off the shelves are generally discounted much more than the newer models. In addition, finding an open box special can drop another hundred dollars from the price, while still being covered under the store's warranty.

A final word of advice. Shop around, and take your time. You can always go back to the store or website, and shouldn't be making a rash decision about any purchase when you're spending hundreds of dollars on something.
