  1. 1.    TYPE OF WORK: If you’re a nature-lover, try looking for a job doing lawn maintenance, painting, or construction.  Retail stores are best for someone who enjoys casual contact with a variety of people.  If you prefer a quiet, independent environment, check out the office jobs that are available in your area.

    2.    TIME CONSIDERATIONS: Part-time jobs vary in the amount of time required each week.  Generally, anything less than 35 hours per week is considered part-time, but most employers are looking for around 20 hours.  Before you start looking for a job, review your schedule and figure out how much time you can spare.  Also, take note of what days and times work best for you; an employer will want to know about your availability and flexibility.

    3.    TRAVEL DISTANCE: The farther you must travel to get to work, the more money you spend getting there.  Make sure you consider gasoline prices and wear-and-tear on the car, before you accept a job offer.  Also, check to see if public transportation is an option.

    4.    COMPENSATION: For most people, the decision to work comes down to money.  Take a look at your budget.  Decide how much you’ll need to make each week.  Look for jobs that will help you reach this goal.  And don’t be afraid to ask for more money by explaining your needs.  Most employers are willing to listen, and will try to be fair.

  2. 14 – 15 years old: You can work outside school hours in non-hazardous jobs (restaurant and retail gigs are fine). But your hours are limited, especially on school days, when you can work a maximum of three hours a day. This increases to a maximum of eight hours a day on Saturday and Sunday. The maximum you can work in a week while school is in session is 18 hours, and this increases to 40 hours during the summer.

You should also know that while the U.S. government doesn’t require you to have any special paperwork or documents saying it’s OK for you to work, your state may. Some states require these documents (also known as “working papers”) for teens under 18. Ask your school guidance office or career center if they have the forms to fill out – and to provide you with assistance. You can also check with your state’s labor department by typing in the following Web address into your Internet browser:

The U.S. Department of Labor has a number of helpful resources for teens on its website covering following topics:

    • Agricultural employment

    • What are “hazardous” jobs?

    • Additional age restrictions and state labor laws

  3. ok, first off, the above answers are absolute scam/spam, or whatever you call it. DONT DO IT....

look for some restaurants or stores near you like fast food, or groccery.

ask for an application. almost all stores such as fast-food have one, and sometimes they don't. some doesn't have application forms and they will ask you to bring in a resume instead. since you're still 15, im assuming u don't have alot of job experiences, so ur resume might be empty.

thats ok. just apply with an application form at a place where they DO offer application forms. sometimes they will do an interview on the spot and sometimes get hired on the spot (if they are desperate for people).

  4. i was a sophomore last year, and around this time last summer, my job found me.  i saw a flyer for a company that prints and sells cards for large companies with long mailing lists.  i started off helping with printing, working in the warehouse and stuff, and now i help maintain the website, working in photoshop, illustrator, excel, and so on.  If i were you I'd get a job in an office.  it looks better on your resume than flippin patties or watching little campers.
