  1. http://www.chesshouse.com/unique_chess_s...

Great site! Loads of chess sets that are a little different.

  2. If you go to:

    www.wholesalechess.com

    1) select "Chess Sets" from their menu,

    2) then click on "theme chess sets"

You'll find all kinds of unique chess sets there.

I just clicked on "Themed Chess Sets" and they now have a Yankees vs. Red Sox chess set...

But there are dozens of sets to choose from.

Just thought I'd pass that along... good luck to you!

  3. eBay or a thrift shop

ethier works the best so you'll find anything old in the basement too OHHH and a yard sale or garage sale

  4. EBay. Or just start searching what your looking for- you're bound to find something on-line.

    Good luck.

  5. As a lover of chess myself I would recommend you skip the "unique" set and simply buy him the best Staunton set you can afford.

I've received many glass and marble sets.  None of them are suitable for actually playing chess.  They are useless.

Go to a reputable shop, ask for a double weight wooden Staunton set and I assure you your husband will be thrilled.  They are beautiful and functional.  He will get a lot of use out of it.
