  1. You can check out http://ebiz.netopia.com/clpress/welcomes...

Christian Liberty Academy -- they are QUITE reasonable!

  2. Look at Rainbow Resorce.  You can find some great books for really cheap.  This will be my 11th grade year and for all my books I'll be spending (or rather my MOM will be spending... lol) $50, but my History book is a book I've been wanting to read for some time, so I'm getting it new.

Cheak out Ebay, book sales, and it's really helpful if your part of a homeschool and can swap books with other moms.

This year, instead of a textbook for literature and history, I'm getting TONS of library books.  This way, I get a really good variety of books and it's free. =]

    Good Luck!

  3. It's great that you are involving your daughter in the process!

If you decide to take a classical approach for History-many of the books can be found a the library. Try reading The Well Trained Mind-available at the library-It will give you great book suggestions.

A great book for English-The Right to Write. Also available at the library. This would be a great book to build a 9th grade English program around (written for adults-some content may need to be previewed by a parent) I used this with my son. There is also a site called grammar101 that has free grammar lessons online.

    Warm Regards,

  4. I have homeschool my children for over 8 years. I have tried several curriculums and approaches. The best that I have found is Alpha Omega Publications - Switched On Schoolhouse. It is a computer based curriculum. You purchase the curriculum and download it onto your computer. You enter the specific days that you want your child to have school (180 days per school year). The program will then schedule out all the subjects over the 180 days. This program also grades all of the work after your child is finished. This will save you a lot of time so that you can focus more on your child than on the "paper work" of grading and scheduling work. This program will also print off a report card with the grades on it. It keeps track of attendance and how long your child spends on each subject everyday.

The 9th grade Switched On Schoolhouse comes with 5 core subjects.

    Algebra I,

    Physical Science,

Language Arts: Elements of Litature and Language

History & Geography: Civics and World Geography

    Bible: New Testament Survey

You can purchase this curriculum on several websites. I would suggest that you read more about them at the first link below. (aop.com)But I would purchase them at the second link below (lighthousehomeschoolresources.com) because it is a lot cheaper. If you want to see a presentation of what the Switched On Schoolhouse program is like you can for free at:

    http://www.aop.com/homeschool/SOS_OnDema...

The cost of the program at the second link for the full 9th grade curriculum is: 307.96 (free shipping). This covers the full 9th grade school year.

If you prefer to have actual workbooks instead of the cd-rom Switched On Schoolhouse you can purchase their Lifepacs instead. You will have to schedule out the school year and grade everything yourself if you go that route. You can also purchase it on the second link below.

If you want free printable school forms such as attendance sheet, highschool course of study, reading logs, etc.. you can get them at the donna young website. (link below)

    Hope this helps you. :-)

  5. You can get a large variety of high school level text books from the library or even used book stores! You  would be surprised how little homeschooling costs you!  also Amazon.com or eBay is a great idea for used text!  New is very expensive but there are lots of options!  Email me with more questions I know my answer is rather vague but there are ways to do it for close to free!!!!

  6. Check out Old Fashioned Education. It's actually free! If you wanted to print stuff off, you can, so that's a minor cost, but aside from that, FREE. Not kidding. My daughter is going to be using part of it this year, and most of it the next. :)

Also, Ambleside Online is another great curriculum source, but SOME of their stuff you would have to look for "off-line," but the books they recommend are reasonable in price when you can find them.

    I hope that helps!

Also, there is a Yahoo group called 3RHomeschooling that is about Old Fashioned Education (and other classical education sources), and they LOVE sharing their free finds from the internet!

Check out my blog if you want. I have a listing of free stuff I have found as well. :) It's not at all a debate blog, but you are welcome to join in the discussions peacefully, if you would like! :)
