I Live in Massachusettes and I want to snowboard down the backside of a mountian with all the powder and stuff. I want to know where a good spot is for the winter where i can head up north. I dont want to go THAT far up into NH but im willing to drive a good hour or 2.

  1. If you go up to Mt. Washington you can hike to the summit and ski/board down following the Cog railway down. It's not incredibly steep anywhere, but it's a good hike and a lot of fun. Odds are, if there's enough snow for it, you'll be the only one(s) going that far up Washington other than the people at the observatory. I'm sure living that close you already know about the weather there so i shouldn't have to say this, but be careful!

  2. well to find the backside of a mountain you first need to locate the front side. hah. just kidding. what your looking for is "bowls" and "back country". places like killington VT might have what your looking for. but to really get into some deep pow-pow you should head out for a trip out west to colorado. they have the best. keystone, copper, breckenridge, steamboat, etc...

  3. And to add to the other answer, there is always the chance of loose snow causing you problems, like getting stuck in a tree well, falling head first, avalanche, so ride with a friend, right?

Wait.  Is there powder in Mass / NH?  I thought that was reseved for the western states / Canada...  Just an ignorant west coast rider, I guess.
