My 16 month old is telling me when she goes potty with sign language so I feel its time to introduce her to the potty. She is only 17lbs and I am having a hard time finding 1t pull ups. She is currently still in size 2 diapers so I am stuck. I also dont know what I will do for underwear. Anyone else with the same problem that could help?

  1. I had the same problem.  My daughter is 18 months old and JUST hit 25 pounds (she still fits in size 2 diapers too, 3's are more comfy, but in a pinch the 2's work).  We have been working on potty training for about 6 months now.  The Walmart brand (not the white cloud ones but the others) that have fairies or princesses as my daughter calls them in the 2T-3T seem to run much smaller than the size indicates.  This is what we've been using.  Honestly the 2T-3T panties (especially the Dora ones) seem to run smaller and have fit her perfectly.

    Hope I helped

  2. Yes, we have the same issue. Our 16 month old is just under 20lbs (19lbs 9.5oz) and we can't find any underwear her size or pullups her size. She's in size 3 diapers.

Try putting her potty in the living room or another open space where she spends a lot of her time. If she signs to you that she has to go, show her where it is and she should pick up that when she has to go, she goes there. She will know where it is and eventually she'll make it. If she signs that she HAS gone, take her diaper off, then sit her on the potty, and sign back to her, then put on a fresh diaper.

As for the underwear, the only thing I can think of, and it's what we're going to do, is buy the smallest size underwear you can find, and let her wear it OVER her diaper. It should still give her that "big girl" feeling.

    Good luck!
