  2. My wife tells me you can get copper yarn from some haberdashers. (It's usually thin wire wrapped around a cotton core) It sees a fair bit of decorative use in "fancy" Indian/Asian Clothing

    Could consider approaching jewelry making suppliers, and ask them. You may be able to get thin gold/silver/copper wire from them.

    If you can't get any that's thin enough, then maybe a draw plate would help. It's a block with a series of different size holes, through which you draw (pull) a wire to reduce its diameter.
