I live in new york city. My wife and I (and maybe our dog) would like to go hiking and camping for a long weekend. Where should we go?

  1. Stokes State Forest in Branchville,nj is about 1 hour from NYC. You can tent camp, rent a lean-to, or rent a cabin. The cabins are little log cabins, soo cute and only $45/night. Tenting is like $20/night. The cabins have bathrooms (no shower tho, but showers with HOT water are free & walking distance) Cabins also have bunks & 2 single beds (we pushed 2 together) with a kitchen (stove & refrig) and a pot belly stove for heat & ambiance. It gets cold there this time of year (54 degrees or so at night) But it's still in the 80's during the day. Check it out! We were there is June, and going back tomorrow for 2 weeks. It;s quiet & has about 24 different hiking trails Deleware water Gap is minutes away, so there is tons to do. Good Luck!!

  2. Come up to CT-take Rt. 7 up to Kent and hike Kent Falls, Bulls Bridge, and other points of the Appalachian Trail in CT. It's beautiful! Stay at Macedonia Brook Campground-it's super close to lots of trail heads.

  3. try up state NY
