Where to go and what to do in and around New Port Richey, Florida?

Question

Places that are must sees/pretty decent or places that should be avoided like the plague/are a bit rubbish.

For example:

Restaurants

Beaches

Local attractions

Supermarkets (got to buy the milk somewhere!)

Anywhere else you can think of...

New Port Richey for a holiday is mainly for golfing people as there are loads of value golf courses nearby.

Even though there is no local beach you are right nearby to Caladesi Island which was just voted no. 1 beach in the USA. Check out the website for access details as you have to cross by ferry.

If you are taking women with you they will want to shop - watch out for Bealls Outlet and Ross Dress for Less or Marshalls as they are discount stores !  If you are feeling rich then go to the International Mall which is right next door to Tampa airport (off the 589).

For a longer day trip drive along the coast south from Clearwater to St Pete's  and over the Sunshine Skyway.

Another great thing to do in the area is rent a boat. Nothing feels more like living the millionaire lifestyle than piloting your own boat ! even if it is only a pontoon.

Supermarkets are limited to Publix and Winn Dixie which are both expensive. Walmart is a little cheaper.

As for what to avoid - don't bother with Tarpon Springs or Weeki Watchee  unless you like the 50s timewarp ambience.

Finally, don't know anything about the restaurants - we always bbq  and crack open a couple bottles of Cooks champagne !! ha ha  have fun ...
