  1. The Bunya Mountains aren't all that close, being out past Dalby. Very picturesque part of the world. There's a couple of camping grounds. If you're quick you might still be able to rent a cabin.

However, my favourite getaway from Bne used to be getting over to Moreton Island. Admittedly I had all the gear (4WD, full camp setup), but even if you don't have a suitable vehicle you can still go on the Moreton Venture (vehicular ferry) as a walk on/walk off passenger as long as you have camp equipment. There's shops for basics at Kooringal, Tangalooma and Bulwer.

  2. how about camping at beautiful bribie island. u said u have a limited budget. so camping would be great. getting to cuddle up beside a fire....just sounds wonderful and relaxing......

  3. There are treehouses at Lake Baroon or next to Kondalilla Falls up near Montville and Maleny that are quite divine.  If you want to take a tent, there is always the campsites near Kenilworth.  There's always plenty to do around the Glasshouse Mountains or Sunshine Coast... and there's Eumundi Markets if you like shopping but not in a department store.

  4. go to stradbroke island, its fantastic.
