Any recommendations on where to go in the DC, Virginia, Maryland area for my 30th birthday. I was wanting something special - either upscale or fun for approx 5-6 close friends.

  1. My FAVORITE restaurant in Jalapeno's in Annapolis, with wonderful Spanish cuisine.  You and your friends could combine a wonderful meal at Jalapeno's (ask if you can have the private back room - it has a single large table that probably seats 12), with a stroll through old Annapolis, perhaps a visit to the Naval academy.

  2. Ethnic food (India, sushi, asian, etc) is great in Adams Morgan, DC.

Fancy dinner in DC --Indebleu, Mie N Yu, TenPenh

  3. the cheesecake factory or Maggianos at Tysons II....If you like Japanese food there is a really great all you can eat Japanese Seafood buffet called Todai (it's an international restaurant and there are only two of them in VA) at Fair Oaks mall (costs about 30 dollars per person). I really like maggianos (Italian food) because you can eat "family style" where you have a five course meal (salad, appetizer, entree, pasta, and dessert) and you pick 2 different kinds of dishes for each course and it's all you can eat for the ones you pick. You're meant to share everything, hence why it's called "family style" :o) It's $25 per person. oh all the places i named are in northern VA. oh and i forgot The Melting Pot! I can't believe i forgot that!!!! So good, but really expensive (cost a little over $100 for two). It's located in Reston (northern VA) It's a three course fondue meal....really fun and different! I guess it would be considered upscale too since it's so expensive. I would either recommend Maggianos or The Melting Pot! If money isn't a problem then choose The Melting Pot!!!!!

  4. The Charthouse Restaurant in Northern Va (Alexandria) is the bomb for a nice upperscale dinner with friends (right on the water view)

Afterwards if you want to hang out at a few pubs/bars, you can walk to the bar area a few streets away

DONT FORGET THE HOT LAVA CAKE FOR DESSERT...AWESOME

  5. Try a dinner cruise along the Potomac. There are several boats that offer dinner, dancing and fabulous scenery. Bring up the websites for the Dandy and Spirit of Washington. So much fun and it's one you'll never forget.
