Where to go for a family summer holiday in the south of France?

My family, of 16 and 18 yr old kids, are planning of going on holiday to southern France, due to the convenience of the Eurostar from London and that I can speak French. Can anybody give any recommendations about good hotels in the area in small, quaint villages, as we want to stay away from the big towns. Also, it needs to be in a quieter village near to a Eurostar/TGV stop. I know the Côte d'Azur is very nice, but it's likely to be very exclusive and above our tight budget. Any ideas?

Thanks

  1. Corsica

  2. I could have a lot of suggestions but I need to understand your situation a little better.

    1. Do you plan to rent a car once you get there or will you be relying solely on trains and public transportation? Because quaint quiet villages tend to be accessible only by car.

    2. How long will you be staying for and when? Would you consider renting a house rather than stay at a hotel ( as it is usually much cheaper)?

    3. Are you looking for a seaside destination or would you be OK with inland villages?
