It really depends what you are looking for. Usually there are at least 100 live music concerts during any week.

Good place for music (although mostly not live) is the Optimolwerke (near Ostbahnhof).

Best bars are in Schwabing. Go there i.e. to Münchner Freiheit and you will find so many bars just by walking along the streets. You'll surely find one you like.

I would recommend to get a magazin called "IN München" that lists all activities for the next to weeks in categories. Not only music but also movies, theater, events, ....
