Me and 3 friends are planning a Senior Spring Break trip for this year. Where would be a fun place to go with minimal transportation required(we can't rent cars) with beaches near by, and with a low cost? Preferably $600 or less.

We live in Iowa, so we'll have to travel

  1. good luck with $600, the flight will probably cost around $300. leaving you with $ 300 for hotel, transportation and food

  2. Is this $600 total or $600 each?  Assuming it is each...I would think about driving.  Gas to and from Florida would probably cost you about $600 and you wouldn't have to worry about renting a car.  You'll save money if you rent a hotel room that is not right on the beach.  http://www.sunshinetravelinc.net is a travel site that I use.

Panama City Beach is a popular Spring Break location.  If you want to be in the midst of noise and partying you'll want to be on the east side of town near Thomas Drive.  If you want peace and quiet stay on the far west end of town.  The Bay Town Trolley is the local bus system.  You can get around very inexpensively...but it doesn't run late at night or weekends.  Hanging out on the beach is free...you can swim, collect shells, work on your tan, build sand castles, take a walk at sunset, or look for crabs at night.  I would recommend an all you can eat buffet for lunch and then going to Wal-Mart to pick up something for sandwiches for dinner.  http://www.panama-city-beach-vacations.c... has even more ideas.

What ever you choose, have fun and be safe.  In Panama City Beach the double red flags mean stay out of the water.  The waves will look beautiful and perhaps not even that big...but it's the under tow that will get you.
