Where to go in France?

I am going to France with 2 other friends in August. We are 17 years old and are interested in watersports, quad biking and other exiciting activities and also sunbathing. So want to be beside the sea-side! We are not interested in history or top end shops.

Where would it be best to go? Any experiences?

  1. The west coast. Not as expensive as the south, fabulous beaches around anywhere from Brittany to Biarritz, good sailing in the Bay, usually you can get water skiing, not sure about quad biking, but quite good surfing because of the Atlantic Rollers. Also around the Gironde there is para-surfing and sand surfing. If you go to the part around La Rochelle you can easily get inland to Poitiers where there a couple of good theme parks . Excellent weather because it is very flat and any bad weather just rolls over the coast and it rains inland!

  2. OJ is right the west is the way to go; it has all you are looking for a reasonable price.

  3. Paris is nice. And you for sure need to visit the Eiffel tower.

  4. The west coast. You should go on a camping trip as they will have all the activities you are after. I recommend Siblu or Canvas as camping companies. Either Brittany or the Vendee region. Les Sables d'Olonne is known as the little Nice as the beach is fabulous.

  5. Dieppe is a great choice for water sports and it has a lot of camp sites and also a quad track, theres also go karting and a flying club on the outskirts, its not your conventional city in that its a lot smaller and easier to find your way around, theres also a kite festival during summer and at the moment the weather is great! train from paris airport will take around two hours and cost you about 23 euro each way but camping is cheap as chips and theres a great variety of cheap supermarkets so it wont be too expensive to eat.

  6. I just returned from France yesterday.  I was in Nice, which had things to do and water sports, but the beach is rocks (not sand).  I also visited Cannes, which has sandy beaches.  You can easily take day trips to do activities from Nice.   And, even though you aren't interested in historical sites, if it happens to rain one day, I would recommend taking the bus to Monoco to see the palace.   The food was really good---great French and Italian food everywhere you go.

Wherever you choose, I'm sure you'll have a great time.  I did!

  7. go to greece, the beaches are prettier, the food is healthier and cheaper, and the water sports are excellent. goto france if you want wonderful fattening food, and lots of bad attitudes.

  8. so you need to go on an activity holiday through an english company, try these www.pgl.com

  9. St Tropez is fab

  10. France is a shithole.    You'll see my friend.

  11. very much agree with OJ. I am French myself - when I was your age I spent my summer holidays on the coast called "les Landes" being between Bordeaux and Biarritz. Try the little town called "Molliets &Maa" and go camping for more surf attitude.

Giant waves, a lot of fun and mostly nice weather. It can be cloudy in the morning but then always clear up.

    Have a great time.

  12. Contact Eurocamp they will arrange transport, accomodation for any beach area you want-much the same cost-you choose.

  13. ... France is an amazing country to visit. I left the country when I was teenager and I do miss it times.

Where to go in France? Well, that really depends what kind of activity you fancy!

The south west, 'Aquitaine' is where I was born. You have th beach, the food, the mountains, the flat .. the wine.

I recommend the following: Fly to Bordeaux and stay there a few days: visit the city and go for a couple of wine tasting tours. You can drive down/ take the TGV to les Landes and enjoy the food ( very very tasty food ... ), go to the beach, and then the Basque country: Bayonne,  Biarritz, St Jean de Luz ,,, where you can also go to the beach, go to the Pyreenees mountains. It's a very beautiful region with basque houses and wonderful contry side. You can even cross the border to Spain for a bit of shopping while you are down there.

  14. go to the south coast.

  15. straight back to the airport. wot a dump lol

  16. You certainly will not be next to the see if you go to Paris.  Although, Paris is nice, this is not the city that you are looking to go to.  I would suggest the South of France, along the Mediterranean----Cannes, or Nice.

When you return to France on your next trip, go to Paris at that time.

  17. Paris.

  18. On the mediterranean coast.  There are many beautiful place and beaches. I can recommend you the Cassis rocky inlet.

I know what I am saying, I am French !

  19. Hyeres plage: not far from Toulon airport, by the sea, with public transports to Hyeres and Toulon (medium size cities) and a lot to do...night life, booze, birds....boys...whatever you like...

  20. You want to head for the Atlantic coast or Southern Brittany Towns like Royan, La Rochelle, Carnac or Quiberon.  As well as the beaches there's usually music festivals, good nightlife and the sporting activities you are looking for.
