My boyfriend and I NEED to get away for spring break. I'm pretty much scheduling our trip and I've only been to Italy before on a study abroad so I don’t know much about planning trips or where is a cheap place to stay. Out basic criteria is that it is:

Warm

Beautiful

Preferably Beaches

$800-$900 per person or less (with flight + hotel and maybe a car)

I have found a few great places and Cancun even has this price but I’m wondering if anyone knows of any hidden, cheap treasures out there. We are hoping to leave March 18th and return on the 25th. We are college students supporting ourselves so cheap is a NECESSITY! Oh any feel free to recommend any other countries that fit these criteria!!

  1. If you want to have a quiet time that's cheap, you might want to be willing to forget about 5 star hotels with butlers and decide to have a more rustic trip instead. Chiapas and Michoacán are just invaded by sleepy nearly virgin beaches filled with hippies. You just bring a tent and your own stuff and just sit in the sun and do nothing. You'll probably spend more money on the plane ticket and in passports than for the actual stay there. Mexico also has a lot of hostels if you're interested in travelling all over a specific state (if you just stayed in 1 sleepy beach you might end up getting bored since you'll be here for an entire week).

I'd suggest Oaxaca for it's overall coolness factor, tons and tons of little towns that really need the tourism BADLY that are cheap as h**l, the state is very safe and you'll have a lot of cultural fun because you'll be with indians of several different tribes that might not even speak spanish. You'll just end up travelling around in buses. You will need to be able to speak at least some spanish though because I highly doubt these people speak english.

  2. Well here is a suggestion, if you tolerate mexican food, go to Puerto Escondido, in Oaxaca, the plane is not very cheap but once there the atmosphere is relax and good... the last time i was there cost me like 400 usd per person stay 4 days...its a surfers paradise, and cheap.

But do not expect big night clubs or five star 300 hundred room hotels......or fnacy restaurants.

  3. Go to Cancun or Cozumel.. you are amateur travelers and that is the easiest trip you can make.

  4. There are good package deals out there. You need to research all possibilities.

Check these links for Cancun/Rivieria Maya area resorts that are all-inclusive and good deals. Also check Dominican Republic for all-inclusive deals in the Punta Cana area.

You are traveling peek spring break season so prices are high.
