  1. I was there in June-July last summer.  The nightlife scene isn't quite Thailand.  Saigon has about 3 decent places that are sorta busy any night of the week, Nha Trang can have a few crowded bars, but the rest isn't too exciting nightlife-wise.  Eating dinner and then walking around Hoi An at night is pretty fun though.  I'd say Hanoi, Halong Bay, Hoi An, and Saigon are the best places to go in my opinion, although I didn't hit the Mekong Delta.

  2. If you like downtown L.A. skid row type of places, then go to the south part of Vietnam. You better bring thick, thick condoms if you explore the South,  but not with the North. In the North, you can wear a suit and smoke a big cigar and a good time.

  3. Easy,Nha Trang, perfect for a young bloke on holiday,Great beach good night life and more beutifull women you can handle.

  4. i woold go to saigon and see the war stuff cuz im a war fanatic but thats a cool place to c

  5. Agree that Nha Trang and Saigon are probably busiest nightlife-wise but Nha Trang is very tacky and not the easiest place to get to.  If you want to go to the best places in vietnam then I would agree with others that Saigon, Halong Bay, Hoi An and definitely Hue are the places to go.  I wouldn't recommend the Mekong Delta.

    good luck

  6. Go to district one in Saigon if you want to get your w***e groove on. Go to district three if you want to see Vietnamese people gawking at us lucky westerners coming to gawk at them. Go to Con Dao island, a 45 min plane ride from Saigon if you want to see a communist version of an island resort. Place is absolutely stunning and best of all, very few tourists. Last time checked, VASCO airways sells paper tickets for US$120 return. Beautiful hotels for US$20 a night. Well worth the visit.

  7. What an opportunity! I recommend going to the city of Hue or Saigon. Hue is my place of birth and during my first visit since a toddler I was truly fascinated. This is the place to go if you're looking for the best of Vietnamese cuisine. The royal palaces, citadels and the Perfume river is located in this city so you'll be in for some spectacular sightseeing. If you're looking for bars and clubs be sure to visit Saigon. The city is very busy and the people are friendly so you'll have no problem fitting in. I'm sure you'll across some English speaking tourists/natives here or perhaps a nice local girl. ;)

  8. If you are young and like partying, I would suggest you spending your days at Saigon, Nha Trang, Hanoi ( was told that people in Hanoi go to sleep early, but not sure myself..Anyway, give it a try).

    * Some of the disco bars in Saigon that I found interesting:

    - Seventeen Saloon currently in Pham Ngu Lao street, the famous Western district in Saigon (District 1) With the flamenco music and all. ( last time there is one opposite the Saigon Harbour, with a very nice view)

    - Apocalypse Now is the one many Westerns would go for, but last time I found lots of g**s there. So better not go for it if you are straight.

    - Volcano in Cong Quynh Street, District 1 is a newly opened disco which is also nice with lots of teens there. But make sure to go inside. Cuz the outside of the bar plays another kind of music that will make you sleepy.

    * Nha trang is a lovely city I think, a tourist city it is.  It's worth the price to go there, for the beach is really one of the most beautiful beaches in VN. There is a small casino there too. The name is Yasaka or so. ( There's a disco in this hotel but I haven't visited yet last time)

    - Ha Long Bay worth a try though I haven't been there yet.

If you are around early twenties, I would suggest not going for Mekong Delta tour. It's not exciting to my opinion. All you could see is the floating market and the local people. Anyway, if you wanna discover different walks of life, you should go there.

  9. Saigon (HCMC) is the place to go for bars, clubs and girls.  Nha Trang is good for that also.  Hanoi (the capital of Vietnam) is more laidback but also more scenic. Halong Bay is great.  But you would probably like Saigon and Nha Trang.
