I haven't had a holiday for 3 years, since moving into our house all monies go on the house these days, but now my hubby is persuding me spend to some time on ourselves.

However we are on a budget, I would love to go to Dubai, but can this be done for £800 all in??? can anyone inspire me to any qood quality hot destinations that is reasonable & not to expensive when out there. We like culture, relaxing, pampering, eating think we need a more chilled out break this time. What about Eygpt has anyone been there?

  1. Not sure if Egypt can be done for £800 all in (unless you mean per person). However, Egypt in August is too hot for many people and is therefore "out of season" so the cheapest time to go.

Most of the hotels have things to do on the premises, so if relaxing by a pool and a gentle walk for a meal is all you require then it can be recommended. There are usually other things to do, if that takes your fancy. Extras in the hotel are cheaper than England, but off-site are very cheap - the only problem is hawkers, you can't walk down the street without somebody try to sell you something/rip you off.

You will be pampered in the hotels, but go for the best star hotel you can afford.

I've been to Hurghada and Luxor and would go back if I was the going back kind of fellow.

  2. Hey!

If you are looking for a cheap destination in Europe you can try to look at Eastern Europe. You normally get a lot more value for money there and even 5 star hotels are ok priced. In Bulgaria there are 2 Kempinski hotels that are cheap but 5 star!

    Ukraine is cheap too.

    Good luck!

    Best regards

  3. pefkos in rhodes or lindos if you want somewhere busier, hot and you will be in your budget if you shop around a bit, pefkos is very chilled out and lindos is just up the road with its ancient greek culture, food is great in both and its always hot.

  4. Everyone I know that has gone to Egypt has gotten deathly ill; a friend's dad almost died. I suggest Nice, France. Lovely people, cheap food, easy to get around in, nice market, lots of tours you can take (like to Monaco - just for a look around!), beach is all rocks so you can't lay on it or go in the water unless you rent a chair on a man-made sand beach, but it's lovely to sit on a bench by the Med. Visitors are well behaved too. And most everyone speaks English. Cheap and easy transport from airport (available on Easyjet but book first cheap fare that comes up or it goes up everytime you go in to look). www.hotels-in-nice.com for cheap hotels in Nice with a map so you'll see them all (get close to the beach for transport). Can be hot so get a hotel room with air conditioning or be sure to request a fan if you are not used to sleeping in hot weather. Last time we went, cost us under £500 for 4 days for 2 people (hotel, airfare, meals, tours). Book now and have fun wherever you go. PS: think about getting a Lloyds TSB credit card or using Tesco points towards Airmiles to help you out next year!

  5. £800 is not a lot.  You might want to talk to a real travel agent about "last-minute" options since you don't have a specific place you want to go. Tour companies sometimes offer unsold packages very cheaply.

Also check EasyJet and RyanAir to see where they fly very cheaply that will allow you to devote most of your budget to a nice hotel.

Cruise ships are another option since they are usually "all inclusive".

Note that Ramadan is September 1st to 29th, and Moslem countries are usually not a good tourism destination during Ramadan.

    Good luck!

  6. August is not usally a cheap month in which to travel as it's the school holidays and most places are booked up.

Visit your local travel agent and see what they have to say, you'll also be able to pick up brochures on the places that interest you.

  7. You could try this site for ideas

Yes iv'e been to Egypt and thought it was great and very cheap. The weather and tours were fantastic , just one little problem the nightlife was minimal.

  8. £800 all in? Ouch may be in the 80's....try Bulgaria I.m going there too with wife and two children to give you an idea we've spent £1161 for 14 nights b&b. Been there before really cheap to eat out cultural trips plenty available...

  9. Italy,

    Not Eygpt

  10. I would suggest looking at budget airlines such as Ryanair or easyjet.  You can also get some deals where hotels are included on these sites.  And they have good options, like Rome, Venice, Prague.  The less you use on flights and accommodation the more you have to spend on meals and souveniers once you get there.

On a personal note, i would suggest Valencia, Spain.  I used to live there, and the last week of august they have the biggest tomatoe fight in the world called "la tomatina."  its in a little village just outside the city.  It might not be as far away as dubai or egypt but you will get a lot for your money!
