Where to go on holiday this Dec ?

I am looking for ideas where to go late Dec for 2 weeks.. No long haul places thx.. and i am travelling alone from the UK.. like culture and sightseeing more..Any ideas?

Canary Isles are just 4 hours away. Its usually hot in December, but im not sure if the culture and sightseeing bit would be suitable.

Greece is always hot, and Crete is brilliant for sightseeing, especially if you are into history.
