  1. Last month I went on my first cruise and will never go back.  It was the Carnival Ecstasy from Galveston to Progreso & Cozumel.  I will tell you what went wrong with mine and it might help you decide:

    1.  Carnival cruises assign seating and time to eat for your dinner.  Yes you can eat at the buffet, but if you want formal dining you must sit at an assigned table with complete strangers.  I don't think that Royal Caribbean does this, but I don't know for sure.

    2.  When we went to Cozumel they forgot to tell us that the hurricane from a year or two ago had wiped out all of the sand on the beaches, the only sand there was what resorts had hauled in, so it was very rocky.  Also, we wanted to go to a water park, but the hurricane had also destroyed it, as well as other interesting sites.

    3.  As I said, we went last month... the weather was supposed to be good but some kind of front came through and made the water really choppy so I stayed nauseous most of the time, even though I had on a motion sickness patch.

    4.  The cost all depends a lot on the room you pick.  If you plan on staying inside your room the majority of the time on the cruise then get a room with a view, which will cost a lot more.  If you plan on getting out and roaming the ship, get an inside stateroom, it will be a lot cheaper.

I know you asked where you should go and I didn't really answer that question but I hope this helps!

  2. i dont know about the best but i know you can talk to travel agent and pay on a monthly plain for an advance cruise,  if u were leaving from there the alaskian whale cruise is suppose to be cool

  3. caribbean

  4. Alaska  pick something different and somewhere , where everyone and their momma has not been.

The worse kind of mistake is tell someone your going on a cruise and they start sugesting go here do this or whatever.

the cruise is for you to enjoy and experience something New.

  5. I'd sugguest Royal Carribbean and take a cruise to anywhere south, like the Bahamas, mexico, Jamacia ect.

  6. I have been on 23 cruises and the best suggestion I can offer is go to your local AAA office & no you do not have to be member and pick up several brochures from different cruise lines. Then you both sit down down and compare the things that are important to you.

    Somethings to consider.

    The actitivities on the ship.

How many ports of call verus days at sea.

Cabin- inside, cabin with a porthole or balacony. This will matter as to how much time you plan on spending in your cabin and also cost. As the veiwing and everything else is going on deck. Some like the balacony because you can have your morning coffee there and also a place to get away and depending where the veiw.

I have sailed with Norwegian, Princess & Holland America & never had a single problem on any cruise. Everyone has their own taste so what you like someone else may not. I will say for me cruising is THE BEST Way to "GET AWAY FROM IT ALL " the service, food, people you will meet etc............... all for 1 price.

    Go ENJOY.

  7. carribean?

  8. The cheapest would be a Carnival cruise line.  The cheapest time to go is in September, but it is also hurricane season, so be prepared for cancelations or the cruise ship taking a different direction. I would even consider travel insurance. It seems Carnival is the only one that goes out of Mobile.

Here's what is going out of New Orleans: opps, I couldn't get the page to come up, so just put New Orleans as the port and it will give you a listing.

If you consider the Caribbean, you may have to use the ports in Florida instead.

On a Carnival it is more family oriented being cheaper so expect lots of kids around.  Personally we liked more of a quieter scene.

Our favorite cruise line is Celebrity. It costs more, but we loved the food better and the entertainment was superior above the rest!  Our favorite cruise was a repositioning cruise out of Ensenada Mexico that went to Alaska for 11 days.  Alaska is an experience you will never forget!  I also have enjoyed the Caribbean cruises too (have been there 3 times) , so no matter where you go, you will have a good time!

Another place we dealt with was CruCon.  They are an excellent travel agent online and have given us some great deals.  You might want to sign up for their newsletter online for their specials.  We had some friends use AAA and found it a bit more expensive than what we paid.  It pays to shop the bargains ahead of time.  If you should happen to be a senior or have a military background, you can also get discounts.  We had both and even saved more.  Last year we went on a 7 day cruise for only $299. because of it!  Some even give discounts on account of the state you live in!  Weird, but that can be to an advantage or disadvantage. lol  We always traveled the cheapest and had an inside cabin.  We wanted to do more when we wanted to than to stay inside the cabin other than to sleep.  So each has their own preferance.  Pack lightly.  The one thing we did after our first cruise was to bring along a covered travel coffee mug.  It was nicer than trying to carry a cup of coffee all over the ship and spilling it.  lol  Some people take dramamine.  There is a sic bay on the ship so if you need anything it is there too.   Enjoy your cruise no matter what you choose.

  9. If you like the Sea, being catered to, having something to do an any given time of the day, or can eat till you pop and are entertained nightly then there is no better way to spend a week than on a cruise ship.  As for the places to go and see, there is no end to the list, take you pick, you know what you like better than anyone on a website.  Best cruise lines, ... there again in is a personal choice, sometimes you hear bad sometimes you hear good about any given ship line.  I would suggest going to a travel agent and they all will have the answers to your questions.  If you are trying to save money then go the Internet way, and I would bet that the cheapest time of the year would be summer, but that is just a guess on my part.
