Where to go out (Simpsons in the Strand ?) near Covent Garden restaurants?

I'd like to go out for a dinner at my wedding's anniversary. Trying to make a surprise for my wife. My experience at London's restaurants isn't broad. Please tell your opinion regarding the above? Or make your suggestion please on where to go for such occasion. Thanks.

I've no idea about Simpson's in the Strand or other places at that level of repute.  However -  not "posh"/"swanky", but if you like excellent fish dishes try LIVEBAIT in Wellington Street, Covent Garden (next to the theatre with The Lion King on now).  White wall-tiles make it look rather cold but the welcome is warm.  I took my ex-boss and his partner there and we all enjoyed ourselves.

Depends on how posh you want to be?  There's a really lovely pizza place near Covent Garden called Fire and Stone.  The pizza is fantastic there - it's not like Pizza Hut etc.  Have a look at their website.  Another good place for you to look would be: Top Table (website), Square Meal (website).  Good luck and I hope you find somewhere you both enjoy - be careful if you are planning a quiet romantic meal out as, at this time of year you might go somewhere holding lots of office Christmas parties!
