Hi people, I'm seventeen, taking my driving lessons but find it incredibly hard to get a quote for insurance. I want a rough estimate so i know how much to save but every site i have checked is for someone who already owns a car.

If anyone has any good sites or references for my position it would be appreciated. thanks dudes XD

  1. Put in the details of the type of car you are likely to get and then you will get a quote. Best thing though is to go to insurance company web sites and get their Freephone number and speak to them direct.

  2. I suggest, you think of a car you think you may buy once you have passed your test. Have a quick look at those models of cars for sale and then you have a guidline for the insurance quote.

For example, I would look at a Corsa, find one for sale, make sure the engine size is pretty low and has no modifications. Try and get the registration number and then go to a site like Confused.com and enter all your details. The site will ask you about 'Your Car', just type in the car you have found and it will give you quotes from different companies starting with the best option for you first.

Insurance for 17 year old male drivers is usually pretty hefty. My partner is 19 and his insurance is £1,500 a year.

But a smart tip, try and get one of your parents to be a named driver on the insurance and it should bring it down a fair bit. My mother is on mine and I saved £800.

    Good Luck.

  3. Farmers.com, statefarm.com, nationwide.com, progressive.com, geico.com.

Do a google search for "Online insurance quote"

  4. Try www.ecarinsurance.com when my boyfriend got his first quote 2 years ago it was only about £500 for Third party, fire and theft for the first year. I checked the website again the other day and they quoted £390 for both of us fully comp and I am a 20 year old new driver. That is for a 1 litre corsa 51 plate. Its worth a little look.
