Question:

Where to go to scan pictures?

I have a laptop and I have a ton of pictures from earlier years that I want to scan onto my computer. Any suggestions on where to go, other than the obvious Kinkos? Do they even do scanning there?

  1. Depending on just how many pictures you have to scan, it may be cheaper & faster to just buy yourself (for example) an ON SALE All-in-One printer/scanner/copier.

In scanner mode you can choose to "save to computer/disk" rather than print.

  2. Scanners come very cheap these days. If you have tons of photographs, it would definitely take you hours to scan them. Kinkos charges on a per minute basis. We did have local stores that charged on a per scan basis. But the bottom line is that it would be cost effective if you buy yourself a scanner. A new one does not cost more than $75. You will also find scanners that can work in batch mode, where you feed in all your photos and the scanner automatically scans all of them one by one creating separate files for each of them. Printer/Fax/Scanner combos are also a great investment.
