Sorry, I know this question gets asked a lot. My sister and I would like to find a city in France that is less likely to be bombarded by tourists. A place close to a nice beach, preferably clothing optional. We would rather it be a little rough around the edges than it being really ritzy and pretentious. We are learning french and we think we'll be fairly fluent in it come next summer. It's important the people there be friendly :) We like places where people are out and about all the time, people don't disappear at 8 o clock. Lots of young people, ideally. Artsy, or at least close to a place where there is a lot of art stuff and museums and stuff. Anyone know any funky towns like this, or even close to these specifications? Thanks a lot.

  1. The French Riviera, but I would go west toward Spain - it's less touristy.

  2. look it here

  3. The problem is that if you want to go somewhere young and with many animation, there will be many people : for example on the french riviera, Juan les Pins or Saint Tropez....many things to do and many people.

If you want a calm place, I' m afraid you won't find many things to do at night...

A good option can be Biarritz in south west of France, close to Spain, on Atlantic Ocean....always a good weather, many surfers, lots of animation in summer, good things to eat....of course many people in summer !
