  1. nice steakhouse in Donovans (little pricey but ranks in the top 10 steakhouses in the Nation just about every year).

go early and you will avoid the business and formal dining times.

Its on the corner of Genessee and La Jolla Village Drive (across from UTC).

My family all enjoy Cocos.  I know it sounds funny but each person (6 member family) love something that Cocos offers.  The Cocos on Genessee next to McDonalds (also by UTC) is one of the nicest Cocos my family has ever been to.

If you are looking for a good time, ***** Last Resort is a great time.  However, if there are children under say 13 attending I would avoid this place.  Night on the town with some friends you will love it though.

  2. Buca di Beppo is a great family-friendly restaurant. They serve amazing Italian food with family-size portions, so everyone can order a dish and they give you enough to feed around 5 people per dish. The prices aren't too bad either, and you go home with a ton of leftovers. If you go, I recommend buying the birthday boy a limoncello. They make a great one at Buca!

  3. JRDN right on the beach. really nice.

    they have a website.

    jrdn.com

  4. I'm really not a Dave & Busters regular, but this restuarnt was really popular when we had a bday there. The kids can play and so can the adults and the food was pretty good (I was surprise) . At 29 -  im sure hubby is in no hurry to grow up. LET THEM PLAY !!!!

  5. Have ya' considered Anthony's Seafood Grotto restaurant along North Harbor Drive (Embarcadaro) in downtown SD? Great ocean views and all of their seafood entrees are moderately priced as well.
