Question:

Where to have a wedding??

Ok... we're getting on December 12 of next year and we can't decide where to have the wedding. I know it will be a little cold... we live in South Carolina so it isn't THAT cold especially at the beginning of December. We don't want to have it at our church because it is so big and just not really pretty... and we just DON'T have the money to rent out a place to have it. We were thinking earlier about having an outside wedding (when we thought about having it in August). Would it be bad to have one outside since it will be a little cold? I don't want to freeze our guests... We are thinking about renting a big tent thing for the reception. Should we rent two and have the ceremony in one and the reception in the other or what? I really need some ideas! Thanks for any suggestions. : )

  1. You could have it at your favorite restaurant, or a local historical museum, a park, a garden, friends or family home, by the beach (no one will freeze there, even if it is cold), the first place you met. If you decide to rent a tent, just have your tables set up for the reception and also have your ceremony there. Saves time and money.

  2. I live in canada

I have a place where everything is all at one place. The outdoor ceremony, the pictures and the reception all there. Also its at beautiful hotel and the guest can stay there. So they park their cars and not have to worry about driving for the rest of the night until morning.  It is really all depends on what kind and type of wedding you want.  If you keep looking around you will find that place you fall in love with.  So be open to ideas and keep looking until one pops.

  3. I *think* it might be too cold to have an outside wedding in December in South Carolina. (My in-laws live in VA, and it can get pretty chilly there in winter; I wouldn't plan an outside wedding knowing what I know about the weather there.)

How many people are you having? If you're renting a tent, maybe you can have the ceremony and the reception in the same tent (if it's big enough) - just set up separate areas for reception and ceremony; or, as you suggested, rent a second tent. Also, if you're not having too many guests, perhaps a friend or a relative could volunteer a house? My friend has a really nice house with a beautiful yard, and she suggested we have our wedding at her place, as we were inviting very few people. But it certainly wouldn't work if we had 50-100 ppl.

  4. well, you might not want to travel, but in newport rhode island they have the rosecliff, its beautiful. they also have belcourt castle which is really cool, you get free tours of belcourt if you go, and its haunted!

  5. Anymore you can't really count on the weather...lol   But, if you feel it won't be too cold, you could rent two tents like you suggested, one for the ceremony, one for the reception.  If you'll be anywhere near water tho, it just might be a bit chilly.  You could make sure the tents are completely enclosed tho.  If you have any nice golf courses w/nice buildings, like a restaurant/club type room, you could have the reception there, & have one of the other rooms set up nicely w/flowers etc. for the wedding.  Something like that would work too.  Of course it all depends on how many guests there are going to be.  ALL the BEST to you...:)

  6. Well I bet anything they would rather be a little chilly than hotter than heck. Plus a lot of rental places have portable heaters that you can rent to keep your guests toasty while you say your I do's

  7. Do a banquet hall.  Some banquet halls can look really awful but with the right amount of searching, you can find a real beauty and they normally include everything.

I also liked the tent idea and if its economical to do two, then I would.
