Question:

Where to hide money?

I used to hide my money taped under my desk in a ziplock, but apparently my brother found it, and stole it. (I found it in his room under his matress ;) Where should I hide it now? I checked all my air vents in the house, but they all drop straight down or go straight up, and there's not ledge to put it on either. I checked for loose floorboards, none of that either. Any suggestions? No mattresses or box springs please. And yes, I do have a bank account, but I like to keep a bit of cash in the house too. A Safe is out of the question.

  1. Your hiding places are limited to your bedroom.  I hope you've told your parents that your brother is a thief.  And, I hope you left your brother a nice little booby trap under his mattress.

If your bedroom happens to share a wall with bathtub plumbing, there is an access door in the wall to allow access to those pipes.  If so, it should be easy to unlatch the door to hide your stash in the wall.

Look for potential hiding places in the uppermost corners of your bedroom closet.  Consider what you already have in your closet.  The best hiding place is inside something that's inside something that's in the middle of a pile of other stuff.  It has to be hard to get to.  And, you can't noticably rearrange your closet, or it'll be obvious.

Do you have any cd cases, video game cases, or dvd cases that you know your brother would never be interested in?  If so, it might be possible to use a media case.

Do you have a bed that includes any removable parts?  If so, perhaps there's a hollowed out place you could use.

Is your brother close enough to you in size that he'd ever have a reason (good or not) to reach into your underwear or sock drawer?  If not, tuck your cash inside a sock, and bundle just as you would any other pair of socks.

Also, think about store bought containers that wouldn't interest your resident thief.  What toiletries do you use that your brother wouldn't go after?  Perhaps, you could use an empty deodorant container.

My favorite ... hide it in your sock or underwear drawer, along with a mouse trap.  If he reaches for your cash, it'll hurt (a lot.)

  2. If you have a lot of books get a book safe.. its hollowed out book with a boring title nobody would think of looking in it.

Here is a couple of ways:

  3. in a book? under the waste can?

  4. buy a small metal cash box with key-brother going to have to learn to keep his hands off

  5. Under the refrigerator.

  6. i used to put it under my tv in my room if you have a poster in your room you can slide some behind there go to wall mart and get a safe i think there cheapest version is like 10 bucks i got a fireproof one for 30 bucks you could hide in/under dirty socks or underwear lol

  7. inside a somewhat large pocket of a shirt or jean in your closet. i'm sure he won't go digging through your clothes.

if you own a somewhat large cd/dvd collection, put it in a random case.

if you have picture frames, open the frame and place the money between the picture and the back of the frame. not the glass -__-

  8. If you have carpet in any room with a  vent, lift the vent, lift the edge of the carpet and slide the money under the carpet and replace the vent.  Keep in mind, if your brother found the other money, he may be watching you, so he may see you hide the money under the carpet.
