Question:

Where to honeymoon?

I'm getting married this May and we're trying to decide between a cruise or an all inclusive resort. We were looking at the Couples resorts and Sandals resorts, but the airfare (from Chicago) is extremely expensive right now. (stupid gas prices!) We then thought of a cruise because neither of us have been to the Caribbean and thought that would be a good way to see multiple islands. If we decide to go with a cruise, which would be the best for a young, romantic atmosphere? (we're both 24 yrs. old and don't want to be on a cruise with a bunch of 70 yr. olds!) Any suggestions for a cruise and/or resorts in the Caribbean would be appreciated.

  1. Hey, you're actually in a good situation given the time frame of your honeymoon; I say Couples Resorts is definitely the way to go. I'm the marketing director for Allinclusiveoutlet.com and we're currently running a special where you get up to 50% off the published rates for Couples Resorts. As long as you book by April 30th and travel before the end of the year, which it sounds like you will, then you can basically bring your fiancee/fiance for free.

There are some other things you may want to think about as well. Cruises are definitely a good option for some people, but they are mostly for the older/inactive traveler. They are not generally considered the most romantic atmosphere, for reasons you already mentioned.

When it comes to your honeymoon, I personally wouldn't chance it. Ironically, I'm 24 also and engaged to be married this summer as well. I had the privilege of visiting all 4 couples resorts in Jamaica this past summer and they are definitely among the resorts we are considering. They are really quite amazing, and you couldn't ask for a more romantic atmosphere. Couples Sans Souci and Couples Swept Away were particularly unique because of their location and luxury.

I've included the link to that promotion below (and links for more info on the resorts I suggested). You can get an instant quote with no obligation to see if it's in your budget. If you want resort ideas for other places in the Caribbean, there are many good options. Feel free to contact me directly. I hope this helps in your decision somehow. Congratulations and good luck.

  2. I was looking at your budget for 5-7 days of $3k I found a website the you would love. You could stay for 8days and 7nights from $298 to $799 at a resort or hotel and customer service will help you with the cruise rates. Take a look and see if it's something you could benefit from.

  3. I think you will get more out of a cruise than a land package. Here are some sites to look at for a cruise. The only con about a cruise is airfare is not included. Food and cabin are included. Booze and soda you also need to pay extra.

I would look at all-inclusive air and land packages in the Dominican Republic or Mexico. The DR has the best prices. here are some sites for land and air packages.

I would also check with a local travel agency for any last minute deals.

    Good Luck and congrats)
