Question:

Where to issue a new passport?

I have a german girl working with me in Abu Dhabi. She cancelled her Dubai visa and I started working on her visa here. In the mean time she went on vacation and came back on a visit visa. Here comes the problem. She will not get a visa for Abu Dhabi cause her passport is valid only for 4 months instead of 6. The german Embassy will not issue a new passort because she has no residence (only visit visa). Her home country is not responsible for her, cause she has no residence there either.

How and where to apply for a new passport?

Does anybody have experienced a situation like this? Please do not say she should go home. She lives in UAE and got nothing else back in Germany no more.

Thanks in advance!

  1. There are only so many options:  If the Embassy of Germany in UAE will not issue her a new passport in-country (which is difficult to believe, but I trust you have exhausted that possibility and they have offered no appropriate solutions), it is unlikely any other country's Embassy of Germany would do otherwise, so her only recourse is to apply within Germany.

  2. I think the first person you should see what she said but go on the first answer  what she written2u then go into it further  to make sure this is correct

  3. in order to get a working visa in UAE, she must be out of the country first, her passport with only 4 months left is not valid, the law says you have to have 6 months left at least beyhond your work visa,

if she does not have an address? she may not get a new passport for the German gov.

if she is on a visit visa? she may not get a passport renewal.

you said she is working with you on a visit visa? it is highly illegal, if caught she will be send out of the country and never to come back to UAE again.and barred from immigration.

yes , she must go back home first, get a new passport and then get a working visa from UAE, no other way around it ,

    it is the law .

she is NOT allow to live in UAE, she only has a visit visa.

as i said # if she gets caught? she will be in a lot of troubles with immigration in that country and it is very strict !#

there is not other solution but for her to back to Germany first.

    ps:

i came back to add, if her passport expires while she is in the UAE? the problems will be even greater ...... beware.....

    ps:

i came back and read first about German citizen,

    German Citizens:

    # The German citizens (tourists and business people) may apply to the UAE embassy in Germany for a one or two year multiple-entry visa. No sponsor is required. The maximum duration of stay of visa holders should not exceed three months a year. The visa fee is AED 1,500.#

this sort of visa does NOT mean you are a resident of UAE,

it means you may enter and come back for a one year to 2 years, not more than 3 months at the time.

therefore, she will not get residency.

The rules for working in UAE are quite simple; you will need first to have a residential permit so you can apply for a labor card. The labor card will permit the person to obtain employment in the UAE. The residential permit can be obtained when someone in UAE can legally sponsor you. A person will legally sponsor you only when that someone is (i) your relative or (ii) a company who is going to employ you.

    now, about the passport renewal:

if the UAE do not give her a residential permit, and she has been refused twice thus far? there are no ways around that.

She is NOT a stateless person, her home country is Germany, and Germany will be the only one to provide her with a passport,

her time on her passport is passing fast.she must go back to Germany to renew it,

If the consulate has refused to renew it? there is NO other choice,

the law of travel says: that your passport has to be valid

    #  6 # months after your departure, some countries do allow you to enter with less, but not many countries do allow this.

why she has no address? is another situation, yet she remains a citizen of Germany.......

the refusal of renewing her passport is the law established by Gernamy,

if like you said, she is already working legally? then why is she not given a residential permit? the UAE has refused it twice? let's say she does get a residential permit?

the problem with her passport will still remain the same.

    please note:

most embassies with consular services, will NOT renew passport with this short amount of time left on your passport.

it is up to the holder of the passport to make sure her passport has enough time to either travel, work in another country,

there is nothing else i can say, her situation is indeed complicated, i agree......

but she will have to abide by the laws of Germany.

  4. If she wants to come back to UAE again on work visa she needs to go back immediately to her home country and then they must issue her new passport. If she waste her time in UAE & if she may caught then she is in a big big trouble & no one can help her at that time.

  5. she has to go back to her homecountry &apply for a new passport at the passport office there
