Where to kayak in New York with self-owned kayak?

Question

I purchased my own kayaks and was wondering where I was allowed to go and use them recreationally. I noticed there were clubs and places to rent kayaks (i.e. along the Delaware River in NY), but no mention of where to go and use self-owned ones. What type of training is required to use a kayak and do you need to be certified to enter the water in NY?

hi, would like to really have some fun? come on down to indiana and kayak the green river. they have a great 25 mile tract that is freq used and you end in the amish area.lots of canoes also. it is a blast...j
