Where to live and work in south lake tahoe?

I am currently attending culinary school in sacramento, ca and by november i have to do an externship for 6 weeks and I'm thinking about south lake tahoe. so if anyone knows good safe places to live and/or decent restaurants to work at, preferably in the kitchen, then please let me know. Thank you!!!!

most of the casinos have a finer restaurant and I think there is a place up near Heavenly Valley. It's been a while since I lived there, but I'm sure there must be a few more good places since it's gotten even more upscale than it was when I was there. As far as places to live, we always lived in the "Bijou" area and liked it a lot. There really aren't any out and out BAD areas- most areas kind of have a mix of older and newer homes and also a mix of the kind of people living in the neighborhood. We were there for 12 years and never had a problem. It's a beautiful place to live. My ex-husband is a chef (in Las Vegas now) but in Tahoe he worked at Harvey's- I thinnk it's called something else now! Good Luck!
