  1. I hear that Santa Fe is a nice area... our friends live in Colonia Roma - it is a nicer, older neighborhood, kind of near the Zona Rosa.  Not as expensive as what you'll find in the "best" (rich) areas today... but still a quality place to live.  I would not live alone though, at least not at first until you get to know the city well.  Hopefully you can find a roommate through your school.

    Good luck!

  2. Polanco isn't far at all and it's a nice place to live.

  3. Hello there. If you're going to the "Ibero" (as it is commonly known) you should look for an appartment nearby. Polanco is not far, but the car traffic in the city can make the ride a real nightmare. Driving from Polanco to Santa Fe can last from 20 min without traffic, to more than 1 hour with traffic. Santa Fe is a very expensive area to live, there are only apartments and rent costs from $1700 USD  to anything else. Some other places you may consider for living are Cuajimalpa, Interlomas, El Contadero. The best for you is to find a friend at the Ibero and ask for guidance, you could even find some posts on tableboards with rooms for rent. Your decision will rely A LOT on your budget, if you're sharing a room, or your lifestyle. Mexico City is very expensive when it comes to real state.
