Where would be a nice place to live in liverpool for a young couple? We are thinking of looking for something central, i.e., near lime street station. Somewhere in the waterfront would appeal to us as well.

Our budget is around 600gbp per month.

  1. Aigberth, good public transport into the city, a lovely park to relax in, good pubs close by.

  2. i would find somewhere better to live ( not the best place in the world)

  3. Anyplace with good locks.

  4. Following on from Neil's comments...

Because the housing market is slowing down, I would suggest that a tenant might be in a strong position to negotiate.  Landlords don't want their properties sitting empty and, even if they make a loss, they would prefer them occupied.

I'd be cheeky and offer a ridiciously low rent and see what happens.

Good luck - Liverpool is definately the place to be these days (I miss my hometown)

  5. I have seen in Your Move magazine, the odd waterfront apartment at about £600 per month.  Also you could try a flat in the Georgian quarter which is walking distance from the city or even Lark Lane which is in the Aigburth suburb of town but is only about ten minutes into town on bus or train.  It's a really bohemian area, popular with students and is close to the parks and has lots of local, handy amenities like shops, bars and restuarants.

  6. Liverpool is a wonderful place to live, the last two weekends have seen the city centre literally buzzing with the various events happening, thousands of tourists visiting and the opening of the first part of Europe's biggest retail development right in the heart of the city. People who say its not a nice place have obviously never been. It also has the lowest crime rate of any big city in the UK, so thats another myth.

Unfortunately your budget of £150 per week to rent will not get you anything decent or near to the water front. Property in the UK is ridiculously over priced, and outside speculators have driven the price up within the city. Many of the waterfront flats are sitting empty because they have been bought as an investment not a home.

Have a look round, you might be lucky with the present downturn in the property market, but I would guess that you will need to spend a lot more money to rent the type of property you want.

  7. You can try this website which gives an updated list of houses/apartments for rent in Liverpool

    http://liverpool.gumtree.com/liverpool/2...

Here's another website you might find something on:

You mentioned you wanted a place near to the city centre, so your best bet is this website:

    http://www.findaproperty.com/areadetails...

The apartments at the docks are a bit over-priced at around £500 a week.

Liverpool is a great city to live in, and don't believe all the myths about high crime rates because I've lived there for 24 years and never been robbed once.

  8. There is some new apartments in Liverpool One which is a new retail area in the city centre.or apartments on Duke St whichnis not far from Lime St station.
