I really only have my own date of birth to go by.... Are there any free australian sites to register with?

  1. Hi Darl, You Could Try A Cite Called peoplesearch.com.au/Adoption_Search

I Don't Know How Much Information Is Needed But This May Be A Place To Start. Good Luck With Your Search Darl!

  2. I thought Australians could get their OBC's...have you tried to get yours?  Then you'd have their names...

  3. Hiya,

Records are open in Australia (YAY!!) - so check with the Tassie DOC's department - and apply for your original birth certificate (which will have at least your mothers name on it) - and make sure you ask for ALL documents pertaining to your adoption - you're allowed to get them BY LAW - so don't take no for an answer.

Check this link for who to contact -

    http://www.dhhs.tas.gov.au/services/view...

There are some costs involved for searches (which I don't agree with - as it's OUR information) - but once you have your original birth certificate - then you can check the electoral rolls etc - for free.

If you need ANY help - please contact me through my profile here - or you can find me (known as 'Possum') - and many other adoptees (for support or search help) - here -

I wish you all the very best with your search.
