We are wanting to get married in the Caribbean in April 2009. Can anyone recommend an island/resort/anything! We've spent hours online but would love to know from people who have been there what they would recommend.

We've been looking at Antigua and St Lucia.

There will be about 20 guests and we'd love to be able to get married on the beach so an all inclusive resort deal at a place with a great beach, food, ambience and activities is what we're after. Any advice would be wonderful thank you!

  1. Tobago, it is an island known for its weddings. There is a tradional Tobagonian wedding and there are others to choose from too.

If choosing between St. Lucia and Antigua...

I would choose St. Lucia, I don't know why? But I would!

  2. You have done your research well.

I live in the Bahamas but the island of St Lucia is one of the most beautiful islands you could go to with the twin peaks and the fresh water lake and that wonderful water fall they have there would make a tremendously beautiful back drop for a wedding,

The island has a good airport and it should be no trouble of getting the wedding party there.

Look into the resorts there and see if any could set up a wedding at the water fall. you will love it.

God Bless and hope your marrage will be as great as mine.

  3. I personally love St. Lucia! An all-inclusive I would recommend is Anse Chastanet and get one of the hillside open air  suites, the views are out of this world. The beaches are great & the scuba diving is excellent, snorkeling is also available if you don't dive.

I didn't see any weddings when I was there but,   their website  lists that as an option. It is much smaller  & more intimate than a Sandals-type location but, the ambiance blows all others away. You can do as much or as little as you want.  The food is fabulous & you can set up romantic dinners on the beach for just you & your fiance' or include the whole gang. The staff is quite friendly & flexible... no rules, they can make just about anything happen you want. This is your best bet for an unique, romantic, & memorable location.

If you choose St. Lucia,  make sure you hike the rain forrest. The tour ends near a breathtaking waterfall that you can swim in to cool off. Also, if possible take a quick boat ride to Bangs at the Pitons for dinner & drinks. Lord Glennconner ( aka Collin Tennant) owned this little hedonistic outdoor dining experience.  I read he sold it to a hotel chain but, still drops by nightly. I think Wednesday nights are the best to take in the loin-clothed fire-eating dance troupe...very one-of-a-kind! (If you rent the Man Who Bought Mustique, you will understand the eccentricities that this unique & charming character brings to the island) The rum punch flows continually & the local steel drum bands are great for a touch of caribbean flavor. You definitely won't want to go home......in my opinion, this is the most fun Island to be had! Have fun planning & congrats on your engagement!
