  1. there's some decent trail riding at seven oaks in boone. its not exactly mountainous, but its still fun (for iowa)

  2. If you are in the Sioux City area, try Stone St. Park.  I rode there last fall and loved it.   Lots of off-camber stuff and some big hills, but its fun.   Nearby is Ponca St. Park, across the river in Nebraska and less than an hour from Stone.  I rode them both in one day and had a blast.   I did about 9 mi. at each and was pleasantly wiped out(as in tired);  both are in the general area of the Loess Hills geography .... great views and in the fall, I nearly had the places to myself.

Briggs Woods by Ft. Dodge is also acclaimed, although I havent ridden there.

Check out the link to search for mountain bike trails ...

  3. There are no mountains in Iowa. I have cycled Iowa river to river, top to bottom and I am quite certain that there are no mountains, suitable for cycling or not.

Iowa does have a quite extensive system of rails to trails conversions, tho.  Get your self some smooth tires and ride the trails.
