so I don't want to live in the U.S. anymore. I want to move to an English speaking country. I would prefer a warmer climate and possibly beaches. I would like it to be have a low cost of living by American dollar standards. Cheaper than here!! Any suggestions? anyone live outside of America before for longer than 2 years?

  1. Australia is the only country that fits your bill, and is about the only place actively seeking people to immigrate there..

  2. Australia if beaches and warm climate are a priority.  Otherwise Canada or New Zealand.  Australia has a higher standard of living than the USA.  Our economy is booming.  We have a labour shortage.  The cost of living would be comparable though.  It is true that we are actively seeking immigrants.  There is a points system in place however.  Basically you need to be highly educated, wealthy or be qualified in an area that we are short of (eg. some trades, mining industry, nursing etc.) in order to be considered.  It would also be harder if you are over 40 years of age.

Personally speaking, Australia is a fantastic place to live.  I have travelled all over the world and this is truely a very lucky country.

  3. New Zealand, I know a number of people from the US who have moved here and never looked back. as far as beaches go we are surrounded by them!! the furtherest point away from the coast is 128km (80 miles)

our climate is considred mild, that is not too hot (though it often reaches 30 degrees in inland south island towns, and in Canterbury) North island is warmer overall but if its sunshine in particular that you are after, Nelson would be the place to go. its at the top of the South island and its just amazing. it has the equivalent of over 240 sunshine days per year and is just an hour away from Abel Tasman national park where you will find the most gorgeous, unspoilt golden sand beaches in the world (and yes i have travelled extensively) check out these pics below
