Question:

Where to park for a weekend?

I am going to Toronto for an upcoming weekend vacation and last time had a hard time and a lot of money spent finding a place to park. So my question is, does anybody know of a good place in downtown Toronto with secure parking for 3 - 4 days? Fair prices are good, but it's a weekend in Toronto so I won't kid myself.

Someone told me to park at Pearson Int'l Airport in the long term and take the Go bus or a cab downtown? Is that feasable?

Thanks!

  1. Just go to the Nathan Phillips Square underground parking garage beneath City Hall.  It holds upwards of 3,000 cars, costs 14 bucks a day but with no in and out priviledges.

Queen Street West at Bay Street

  2. If you are staying in a hotel, use the hotel parking lot.

  3. Depending on where you will be staying, look for neighborhood parking lots.  The cost is usually very reasonable.  I use one when I visit my daughter in Bloor West Village - the lot is practically right across the street from her house - and I have never had any trouble with leaving my vehicle there.  You might be able to park in any hotel parking facility for a fee.

  4. No. When I cab from the airport to downtown Toronto it is $50-60 so both ways would be $100-120. For that price you could just park downtown. Go Bus maybe but I'd look at cost and time. The airport is in Mississauga. Also long term parking is a popular place for car thieves.

I usually park at whatever hotel I'm staying at. If I'm not staying at a hotel I just park in the large parking lot under the Sheridan Centre / City Hall. No idea on the cost. I just do it out of habit.

I don't know what you drive but since you said "secure parking" the rules out leaving the car at the Yorkdale Shopping Centre mall and taking the subway in.

Some of the neighbourhoods just outside the core allow parking but usually you'd need to move the car at some point in the day or risk getting a ticket.
