  1. I'd take a little of that "sizable amount" that's in your bank account and pay for the services of a good tax accountant. It's better to get off on the right foot with the IRS and do everything properly from the start, rather than to discover years from now that you owe back taxes plus interest and penalties.

A good tax accountant will be able to explain things to you in terms that you can understand, and set you up with a system that you'll be able to use to do things yourself once it's set up.

  2. You'll need to talk to a CPA to determine the amount you need to pay.  They can help you with where to pay, the amount to pay now and what to expect to pay next year.  Do a google search for CPA and the city and state you live in and make an appointment.

  3. I agree with the others that you should talk with a tax professional.  A CPA is good but you can also talk with an Attorney or an Enrolled Agent.  Enrolled Agents have taken a IRS test and allowed to represent people in tax court.  Some Unenrolled Agents are also knowledgeable.

If you are a United States Citizen then you need to pay taxes on the income you earn any where in the world.  If you are not a United States Citizen then I do believe you only have to pay taxes earned in the United States.  But I sure would consult a tax professional.  You might need to file for past years.
