On a 7' table you rack the one ball or first ball on the spot. On a 8' or 9' table is it different?

  1. No. It's just the same.

  2. The size of the table has no bearing on the arrangement of the balls within the rack or the placement of the rack on the table, depending on the game being played.  I think I know why you are asking this question though.  Very often in professional 9-ball, the 9-ball is placed on the foot spot, not the 1-ball as it is in world-standardized rules.  So, in effect the entire rack is moved forward.  The reason that this change was made has to do with the Sardo rack.  With the traditional racking position, players were making the 9-ball on the break too often, so they had to move the entire rack forward.  But the bottom line is that the size of the table shouldn't make any difference.  M.D.-BCA Instructor/Referee.
