My wife and I have just found out we're to have our first kid.

Our problems is that we are currently living in Spain. We are thnking about having the baby here, as my wifes family is here, but would like to move back to Australia after.

If we do this, are we entitled to the baby bonus, or anyother benefits in Australia??

  1. That's a tough one. If i were you, I would find out if centrelink have a toll free number, but it's definitely worth a phone call or simply sending them an email to find out. Once you have moved here (and you both have Australian residency) you will be entitled to all government payments.

  2. If you have the baby in Spain you won't get the bonus (which is now paid fortnightly instead of a lump sum) you will be entitled to Family payments depending on your income/s and also the child care rebate. It is all income related.
