Question:

Where to recycle stainless steel?

We work in a dental office, and our statim case had to be replaced. I asked the technician if he would take it with him for it to be recycled and he explained that it was stainless steel, so there's no where for him to take it. Is there perhaps a company on-line or anywhere else that would take it? Does anyone even recycle stainless steel? I tried looking online, but didn't get any clear answers.

  1. Try your local recycling or trash removal company. Just take a quick look in the yellow pages.

  2. Hi there,

You should look in the yellow pages in your local phone book under Scrap Metal and give them a call.   You are giving it away... so if they can accept it,  they will and come to pick it up as well.

  3. Look in the yellow pages under scrap metal dealers.  You will find someplace that will buy it. They pay by the pound for scrap.  You will have to determine if its worth hauling.

  4. In the industrial Neighborhood I work in you just leave anything like that outside and not locked down and the scrappers will have it in no time!

Yes people recycle stainless. Where exactly in your area?...?

In our county (sonoma, CA USA) the dump takes that kind of stuff for recycle (at no charge)

  5. Hi there,

My name is john. There are places that will accept stainless steel. They are usually taken by a "scrapman" I happen to know someone who does non-ferrous metal recycling. And would be happy to come and collect it. Please contact if you need that. :-)

    Hope that helps.

  6. look for a metal recyclers in your area - that is pretty valuable - you could make a few bucks of it for an office slush fund or something
