Where to send blankets for the homeless?

The women in my family love to make homemade blankets. They are to the point where everyone in the family has atleast 5 of their blankets.. I have heard of people making blankets for the homeless. The women are thrilled and have put me in charge of finding out where to send these blankets... I have no CLUE where to send them. Any ideas? The nearest cities around me are Binghamton, NY or Scranton, Pa.

Go to Google and search on these terms. Each will bring up places that might accept donated blankets (you will have to contact them to find out more information):

Call any church in your area and they will have information about nearby homeless shelters.  Or keep them in your car and hand them out to homeless person you see driving around.  Catholic churches especially will always have all kinds of community service programs, including working with the homeless.  Most churches also have or work with outreach programs for unwed mothers.  Some groups, like our local quilter's guild, also give blankets to the hospitals for babies born addicted to various substances.  You are doing a wonderful thing!  Keep it up and pass the love on.

At any church, soup kitchen, shelter,  if you get them to one place they will be sent on to those that need them. all of these group work together for the most part. hope this help.
